Kyokushin Karate was firstly introduced in Nepal by Shihan Jagat Prasad Gauchan.He has provided hostel facility in Kathmandu for trainees. Martial arts was legalized in Nepal in 1982 AD, 31 Years ago and it was legalised to public via khokishin.Kyokushin karate is the first martial art school for general public in Nepal.Kyokushin achieved two gold medal in 1982 and 1994.

Meanwhile Nepal participate in 1st Asian Full Contact Karate tournament held in Singapore in 1982 which Nepal secured 1st position. Shihan Gauchan was able to grab gold medal in martial arts for Nepal he also reached pre quater final in 3rd World Karate Tournament .

The 2nd Asian Full Contact Karate tournament which was held in Indonesia, Nepal got third position by Ramji Prashad Bajracharya & secured Best fighter by Shihan Jagat Prashad Gauchan.

In 5th Asian Full Contact Karate tournament which was held in Srilanka, Nepal secured 1st position. Rupesh Dangol was able to grab gold medal in 1994.
